Twitterati react on Octopus Paul’s death

The wonder Octopus ‘Paul’ failed to predict its own death before it died on Tuesday.

Paul was found dead in his German aquarium at the Ober hausen Sea Life Centre on Tuesday at an age of two-and-a-half years, reports said.

Since early Wednesday, micro-blogging site Twitter is overflowing with reactions over the ‘sudden death’ of Paul.

“Paul the world cup octopus has died. 🙁 It’s a sad day friends. We will remember you Paul, your insane predicting skills and crazy arms,” tweeted one ‘jeremyempire’.

“paul v miss u 🙁 RIP,” a small reply was tweeted by one of Paul’s fans, who calls herself ‘shenoy21’.

“REST IN PEACE PAUL THE OCTOPUS. :|,” remarked one HidenoriYongco.

A distressed Paul fan named ‘carolindinosaur’ remarked :” istressed this morning to hear the sad news that Paul the psychic octopus has died.”

But it is not that everybody likes Paul, and this is reflected in some of the tweets.

“Paul the octopus was asked to predict Rajnikanth’s death ” Paul died yesterday !!!,” tweeted one ‘Sweta_B’ humorously.

“Liverpool finally win a match and Paul the octopus has a heart attack,” tweeted an ‘anonymous’ person.

The psychic Octopus gained fame and reputation during the Soccer World Cup in South Africa, as it had successfully predicted the results of all the seven games played by Germany.

The entire world was surprised by the strange capability that Paul had, and it was exceptionally astonishing when it predicted successfully that Spain would win the World Cup by defeating Netherlands in the final encounter.

During the World Cup, Paul used to make all his predictions in a unique manner by choosing a mussel from one of two jars bearing the flags of World Cup opponents.

As a result of Paul’s successful predictions the aquarium authorities had presented him with a replica of his own World Cup which was
decorated with his favourite dish called mussels.

Paul will feature in a documentary in that will release in 2011, reports said.
