World welcomes Octopus Paul II
Despite being no more, the legacy of Paul the Octopus will live on as the world welcomed his successor Octopus Paul II in a grand fashion here in Germany.
Paul, the deceased Octopus, who catapulted to fame with his correct predictions of World cup football games, died a peaceful death on October 26 making way for his successor, also named Paul in honour of his prized predecessor.
However, Paul-II preferred to stay indoors sticking to the walls of his watery world as mediapersons tried to catch a glimpse of the curious creature.
“No one yet knows whether Paul will be able to follow in his footsteps, or rather, his tentacle steps,” aquarium spokeswoman Tanja Munzig said in a statement.
Paul-II was reportedly brought from near Montpellier” in southern France.
