Hyderabad police arrest TDP corporator

Hyderabad police Monday arrested a corporator of opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for purchasing a SUV which was stolen in Kerala.

The controversial corporator Thakur Raja Singh was using the Qualis vehicle for two years.

According to police, the 33-year-old corporator from Mangalhat area in the old city of Hyderabad had purchased the vehicle from Lal Bahadur Singh of the same area for Rs.300,000.

The vehicle, which was stolen in 2010 in Mallapuram police station limits in Kerala, had Kerala registration number but the same was re-registered in Andhra by Vamsi, a resident of Vishakatpatnam and others with fake documents.

M. Ravinder Reddy, Inspector of Police, automobile team, Central Crime Station, arrested the TDP leader, who had handed over the vehicle to Bahadur Singh’s brother after he came to know about the arrest of Bahadur Singh.

Raja Singh, a corporator of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), was arrested by the police on several occasions in the past for fanning communal disturbances. He was allegedly involved in the 2010 riots and was also arrested by the police in January this year for trying to foment trouble.
