Jagan Mohan Reddy launches political party
Hyderabad : Former Congress leader Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday launched a political party of his own to work for the people of Andhra Pradesh.
His party, named YSR Congress Party, was launched formally at the grave of his father – late Chief Minister YSR Reddy-at Idupulapaya in Kadapa district.
The party flag will have three colours-saffron, green and white- with a turbaned YSR in the centre.
On Dec 7, Reddy had announced to float a political party.
“I would start the new political party in about 45 days to wipe tears of every poor,? Reddy had said after meeting the people and his supporters in his home town Pulivendula near Kapada, thus ending speculations over the future plan of the maverick leader, who resigned as an MP as well as a Congress member.
“My aim is to fight the 2014 Assembly polls in the state. I want to do unfinished job of my father and a political party of that doctrine could achieve that,” he had said.
Reddy had claimed that the Congress had humiliated him and his family despite his father did all he could for the party and died for things he loved to do.
He quit his Kadapa Lok Sabha seat and his mother also resigned as an MLA of Pulivendula last year.
