Andhra Pradesh minister Vivekananda Reddy, who is the brother of late chief minister YSR Reddy, on Monday tried to slap an Opposition MLA at the Assembly for alleged derogatory remarks.
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu allegedly carried a placard to the Assembly that referred to Reddy and his supporters as “YSR’s Gang of Thieves”.
An irate Reddy rushed to Naidu and tried to slap him. However, other Assembly members intervened and brought the situation under control.
The Assembly was adjourned after the incident.
AP?s most popular chief minister so far, YSR Reddy, died in a helicopter crash in September 2009. His son Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy recently launched a political party of his own- YSR Congress Party-to work for the people of the state.
