400 students caught cheating, expelled

Patna : More than 400 students caught cheating in Class X exams have been expelled and some 100 parents who helped them to copy have been arrested in Bihar, officials said Friday.

“The students were expelled on charge of adopting unfair means. Nearly 100 parents or guardians were arrested for abetment and sent to jail,” Bihar School Examination Board Secretary L. Jha said.

According to board officials, more than 200 students were caught cheating on the first day of exams Wednesday. The next day another 160 students were expelled. More than 50 students met the same fate Friday.

Some reports said even policemen were seen helping students to cheat.

According to the board, over one million students across Bihar appeared for the Class 10 exams.
