Cabbies who attacked Ukrainians may lose license

Panaji, Mar 12 (IBNS) Goa Tourism Department has decided to cancel licenses of three cabbies arrested in the attack on Ukrainian tourists, tourism director Swapnil Naik said.

The three accused men – Agnelo D?Souza, Rohit Nagvenkar and Suresh Naik- were arrested for assaulting eight Ukranian tourists at Candolim, on Wednesday.

?Based on the police report, the department will decide on their licenses. If they are found guilty in the report, their licenses will be cancelled under the Tourist Trade Act,? Naik said.

Ukrainian tourists were assaulted by a group of taxi drivers, when the former were walking along the footpath near a super centre at Candolim.

Police registered a case and arrested the trio only after two victims were able to give their statements to the police.
