The political drama in Goa seems mounting after Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) asked two of its ministers ? Tourism Minister Nilkanth Halankar and Revenue Minister Jose Philip D?Souza – to resign from the cabinet.
Party sources said on Friday that the Congress Government is making all possible efforts to save the two ministers from quitting the cabinet.
Halankar and D?Souza are facing inquiry after they held a ?confidential meeting? with the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary Vijay Sardesai?s on Wednesday in Margao.
NCP High Command in its communication with the state Chief Minister Digambar Kamat had demanded dropping of its ministers and accommodating former tourism minister and NCP legislator Francisco Pacheco.
Public Works Department Minister Churchill Alemao has resented the move by NCP stating that they will not allow NCP chief Sharad Pawar to drop anyone from the cabinet.
?The two ministers are loyal to the Government. However, we have alternate plans if these ministers are dropped,? he said.
Chief Minister Digambar Kamat declined having received any intimation about dropping of NCP ministers.
