Panaji : Results of the Goa assembly elections will go the way of the Mumbai civic polls, a top BJP leader said here Saturday.
“This election on March 3 will be the Congress’s Waterloo in Goa. The results in the Goa elections will be the same as the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) results,” Manohar Parrikar, a former chief minister, told a press conference at the party headquarters in Panaji.
In the Mumbai civic poll, the Congress-Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) alliance was thrashed by the Shiv Sena (SS)- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) combine. Of the 227 seats at stake, the BJP-Shiv Sena-RPI combine won 106 seats, while the Congress-NCP could get only 66 seats.
Parrikar said senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad will be releasing the party’s manifesto for Goa polls Sunday.
Elections to Goa’s 40-member state legislative assembly will be held March 3. The BJP has tied up with a regional party, the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), while the ruling Congress has tied up with the NCP once again.
