Narendra Modi?s ?Vibrant Gujarat? under I-T scanner

The flagship summit of the Narendra Modi government to attract investors to the state ?Vibrant Gujarat?, that has invited Rs 21 lakh core worth of proposals, is under scrutiny by the Income Tax (I-T) Department.

Held in January this year, the event saw the inking of about 8,000 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between industry players and the state government.

Big fish like the Adani Group and Anil Ambani?s Reliance promised to pour in thousands of crores for infrastructure projects.

The cash-strapped deals have apparently raised eyebrows within the I-T department and it has sought for the details of MoUs and investors from the state government.

But the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state is seeing the probe as an attempt by the Congress-led coalition government at the Centre to tarnish down the glow of the summit and spook away investors.
