Sohrabuudin case: Amit Shah?s aides get anticipatory bail

Ahmedabad : Two close aides of former Gujarat minister Amit Shah on Tuesday procured anticipatory bails from the Gujarat High Court in connection with the 2005 Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case.

Justice RH Shukla granted bail to Yashpal Chudasama and Ajay Patel, though they had non-bailable warrants against them.

They were declared absconding accused after they failed to appear before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), probing the fake encounter case, despite several warrants.

The duo has to now appear before the CBI either in Gandhinagar or Mumbai.

Both office bearers of Ahmedabad District Cooperative Bank, their counsel, JM Panchal, argued that their names appeared only after the CBI took over the investigation.

Panchal contended that his clients were in no way involved with the fake encounter case and even if they were booked for attempt to distort evidence, it was a bailable offence.

Chudasama and Patel are close aides of Shah, former state junior Home minister, who is currently in jail after being charge sheeted by the CBI in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case.
