13 officials sacked in Kashmir
The Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to sack 13 middle and low rung officials on charges of corruption.
The government took the decision on the basis of recommendations of a panel which probed charges of corruption against the officials following complaints against them.
This is for the first time since the National Conference-Congress government took office in 2009 that any major step against corruption has been taken.
An official spokesman said this was the first batch of officials who have been ordered to be retired prematurely, which amounts to dismissal from service.
The officials mostly belong to the engineering departments.
