Four arrested for black marketing sugar in JK

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday arrested four people when they were trying to sell sugar in black (on large scale) to a broker, meant for public distribution in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

According to reports, a government truck of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department, loaded with sugar, was on its way for distribution for Kacchhama and Furkian areas of Kupwara.

Sources said that at Gashi area of Kupwara, Rouf Ahmed Bhat, a broker, was waiting for the CAPD employees in his vehicle.

As soon as the government truck loaded with sugar reached there, they unloaded it and in exchange received a huge sum from the broker.

While talking to IBNS,Station Police Officer, Mir Abdul Majid said that police came to know about this and they seized both the vehicles at Branwad and arrested four people.

“We have arrested the accused and started an investigation. More arrests are expected,” Mir said.
