Kashmir CM security angers post officials

The security of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah led to the cancellation of a press conference by the Chief Post Master General of the state, who also left the venue in a huff.

Abdullah on Tuesday was attending a function at Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) at Srinagar, where Press Information Bureau (PIB) had organized a press conference which was to be addressed by Chief Post Master General, J&K Circle, John Samuel.

The CM Security did not let media to enter into the premises of SKICC despite the repeated requests from the PIB and Post Office authorities.

The PIB officer told IBNS that they are tendering apology to media personnel as SSP Security did not allow them because of the presence of Chief Minister at SKICC.

“It is an insult to our Officer and we can?t bear it,” Post Office official told IBNS.

Samuel was ‘speechless’ and couldn?t ‘digest this humiliation’, the official said.

No press conference was held and not only media but the people from Chief Minister?s Ganderbal Constituency were not allowed to meet Abdullah.

“I have been trying to meet the Chief Minister from last four months but nobody allows me to meet him. During elections, Omar Abdullah had promised a lot but nothing has happened,” Abdul Aziz Lehrwal from Gaderbal, while waiting to catch the glimpse of the CM, told IBNS.
