Kashmir fire engulfs dozens of houses

At least two dozen residential houses were gutted in a devastating fire in Srinagar on Friday.

At least two dozen structures, including some shops, were destroyed in a devastating fire at Gadood Bagh at Habba Kadal area on Friday afternoon.

According to reports, the fire emanated from one of the residential houses in the area and spread within no time and reduced property worth crores to ashes.

Eye witnesses told IBNS that at first it looked that the fire could be controlled easily; but as time passed the fire in no time engulfed dozens of houses and shops.

Around six fire tenders from Batamaloo and Habba Kadal locality rushed to the spot but had to face tough time because of the congestion and heavy traffic movement in the area.

“We are trying to ascertain the cause of the fire,” a police officer told IBNS.
