Sopore gunbattle ends with death of two militants
A 26-hour-long gunbattle in Sopore town of North Kashmir ended with the killing of two militants, police said on Sunday.
Police sources told IBNS that in the encounter two top militants of the banned
Harkut-ul- Mujahideen (HuM) were killed.
They were Kalimula alias Shamsher, a divisional commander of HuM, and Waseem Ganaie of Chinkipora, Sopore.
They were active in North Kashmir for long and involved in various attacks on the security forces.
The forces had challenged them after specific information about the presence of militants.
Sopore Police, 22 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) fought the militants.
