Three LeT killed in Kashmir encounter
Three suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were reportedly gunned down by security forces in Sopore town of Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday.
“All the three militants have been killed and the operation is over,” defence spokesman Lt Colonel J S Brar told reporters.
The slain militants have been identified as Pakistani national Abdullah Babu, Saiful Ghazzali and Ghulam Nabi Dar.
Acting on a tip off, 52 Rashtriya Rifles and Jammu & Kashmir Police launched a joint operation at Seer area, where militants were holed up in an under-construction house, on Thursday evening.
The operation was suspended in the night and a fierce gunbattle started early morning between militants and security forces. The encounter ended after 12 hours on Friday.
Three AK-47 rifles, six magazines and three rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) boosters have been recovered the slain militants.
