?Karnataka govt taken no action against illegal mining?
Bangalore : Karnataka Governor H R Bhardwaj on Friday charged Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa for taking no action against illegal mining in the state so far.
?Karnataka government has taken no action against illegal mining till date; illegal mining is still continuing in the state,? Bhardwaj told reporters.
Bhardwaj also criticized Yeddyurappa for not replying to his recent letter on the issue.
?I wrote to the Karnataka CM two days back seeking a report on the issue. I am yet to get a reply. As a Governor, I have to check whether what is appearing in the media is correct and if it is correct, I must get a report. I have a right under the constitution,? he said.
Yeddyurappa has been backing the tainted Reddy brothers of his cabinet, accused of running an illegal mining empire.
Giving a clean chit to the brothers, he had earlier said let the Lokaykta probe the entire issue.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is under attack from the opposition after the Karnataka Lokayukta Santosh Hegde resigned apparently over his failure to control corruption in the state, especially illegal mining, which is allegedly run by G Janardhan Reddy and G Karunakar Reddy.
