Hoax bomb threat in Bangalore airport

High alert has been sounded in Bengaluru International Airport on Wednesday after an anonymous call threatened of a bomb blast in a Bangalore-Chennai flight.

Security was stepped up after airport officials late Tuesday night received an anonymous call that said a Chennai-bound flight will be blown up.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) immediately alerted the bomb squad and all flights, especially Chennai-bound ones, were searched thoroughly.

“Bengaluru International airport, in coordination with CISF and state police, has put in place enhanced security arrangements in view of the threat message received for the airport. Passengers are requested to factor in additional time for security measures,? said the airport authorities in a statement.

No flight has been cancelled or delayed so far, said officials.
