Bangalore : A fire in a paint warehouse on the city’s outskirts Thursday destroyed its structure, a fire brigade official said. No one was injured.
“The massive fire in Berger Paints Ltd godown (warehouse) was doused after an eight-hour battle by 30 fire engines and about 150 of our personnel. The incident is being investigated,” Fire Brigade Services Director D.C. Chengappa told IANS here.
The inferno also gutted a portion of an adjacent garment factory, as several explosions from the inflammable paints and chemical drums in the 10,400 square feet warehouse spread the blaze all around, with thick black smoke billowing.
“We could not ascertain what sparked the fire as the warehouse was up in flames by the time we reached the spot, located in the Bommanahalli industrial area at Garebhavipalya beyond Electronics City (about 30km from the city centre),” Chengappa said.
The company is yet to estimate the loss.
