Rs.4 per litre subsidy for milk producers in Karnataka
Bangalore : A subsidy of Rs.4 per litre of milk will be given to dairy producers and families across Karnataka, state Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced here Monday.
“The subsidy will benefit 7.5 lakh (750,000) milk producers and will cost the state exchequer Rs.496 crore per annum,” Siddaramaiah told reporters at Vidhana Soudha, soon after assuming office.
The revised milk subsidy, which has been doubled from Rs.2 per litre given during the erstwhile Bharatiya Janata Party government, is one of the promises the ruling Congress made in its election manifesto ahead of the state legislative assembly poll May 5.
“The revised subsidy will come into force from today (Monday),” Siddaramaiah added.
