Yeddyurappa softens stand

Beleaguered Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, making a U-turn on Tuesday, said he was a loyal soldier of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and it would be final whatever his party decided.

” I have left everything with the party high command,” Yeddyurappa said, who so far had been obstinate to continue despite resignation demand from his state unit leadership.

“Whatever decision our national leaders are going to take about me, I am going to obey their orders,” the Chief Minister said a day after denying any such move by the BJP’s central leadership.

” I will meet all our national leaders and I am going to explain the situation in Karnataka, We are facing Zila panchayat elections next month,” he said adding he did not do any crime or offence to let down the party in Delhi and Karnataka.

He, however, still insisted that nobody had asked him to quit the office.

Meanwhile, party’s several parliamentarians representing the state have demanded a discussion in the Parliamentary Party meeting on the issue of Karnataka, BJP sources said.

Supporting the cause of the incumbent they said the central leaders should discuss the matter at length before deciding any action on Karnataka.
