Yeddyurappa, sons get bail

Bangalore  :  Former Karnataka chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, his two sons, son-in-law and nine others were Monday granted bail by a court here in a mining kickback case.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Special Judge M.C. Biradar directed the accused to furnish a personal bond of Rs.200,000 each, not to influence prosecution witnesses, surrender their passports and not to leave the country without permission.

The court would next hear the case Jan 29, 2013.

Yeddyurappa, his sons B.Y. Raghavendra, a BJP Lok Sabha member from Shimoga which is about 280 km from here, and B.Y. Vijayendra, son-in-law R.N. Sohan Kumar and former BJP minister Krishnaiah Shetty, who is also an accused in the case, were present in the court.

Yeddyurappa, his two sons, son-in-law and others are accused of taking kickbacks from mining companies in return for favours.

It is on this score that Yeddyurappa was forced to give up the chief minister’s post in July last year.
