Killing of Indian fishermen unfortunate: Vasan
Union Minister for Shipping G.K. Vasan Saturday denounced the killing of two Indian fishermen by members of an Italian ship as “unacceptable”.
“It is unfortunate and unacceptable that an Italian armed guard shot two Indian fishermen. Appropriate punishment should be given to them if they are found guilty,” the minister told reporters here.
He said the ship personnel had not taken the known protocols even if it was to be believed that they were attacked by pirates.
Vasan wondered why the Italian ship, Enrica Lexie, did not report the incident on time.
