MCL officials charged with abetment to suicide

The managing director of Malabar Cements Limited (MCL) and two others were on Monday charged with abetment to suicide in the death case of MCL?s former company secretary V Saseendran and his two sons.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed the FIR against MCL MD Sundara Murthy, his private secretary Soorya Narayanan and controversial industrialist VM Rahdakrishnan in the court of Ernakulam chief judicial magistrate.

Saseendran and his two sons were found hanging in their house on January 24.

Saseendran had worked for 12 years as the company secretary of MCL and was a key witness in corruption cases registered against the company officials.

The death case was initially being probed by a special team of the state police.

But CBI took over the investigation as per an order of the Kerala High Court.
