A local court remanded a 68-year-old man to police custody till June 8 for allegedly raping and then murdering a 14-year-old girl in Maharashtra?s Thane, the police said on Monday.
Vikram Jasra?s ailing maid had sent her minor girl to his house to work as her substitute on Saturday morning when the man allegedly raped and strangled her to death. He dumped her body in the corridor of his building.
Jasra was arrested on Saturday evening.
?Post-mortem and medical reports of the victim have confirmed rape and strangulation. Now Jasra will have to undergo a DNA test,? a senior police official said on Monday.
Jasra?s wife was out at the time of the incident.
