?Slumdog? star Rubina Ali homeless in Mumbai fire

?Slumdog Millionaire? famed Rubina Ali, who portrayed young Latika in the Oscar-winning film, is among the thousands rendered homeless in the devastating fire that gutted slums in a Mumbai.

The 12-year-old lost everything in the fire, including her books and memorabilia of the movie.

?I have lost everything including books and precious belongings like photographs, newspaper clippings and memorabilia of the film,? said Rubina, who spent Friday night at the Bandra railway station like many others who lost their homes in the fire.

Rubina and her family were alerted about the fire by a neighbour and they rushed out, leaving all belongings behind.

Her family was supposed to shift to a new home to be provided by the ?Jai Ho? trust in a few months, reports said.

Slums adjoining the Bandra railway station in the western suburb of Mumbai were engulfed in a fire on Friday evening injuring at least nine people.

It took 26 fire trucks and ten water tankers hours to reign in the flames, that broke at around 8:30 pm, and a huge loss of property is expected.

The incident hit suburban train services in the city and authorities had to shut down the Harbour line for two hours.

The exact cause of the flames has not been ascertained yet but gas cylinders exploding in the slum could have been a possibility, media reports said.
