Former encounter specialist Arun Borude, who was absconding after being accused in rape case of a minor, was found dead near railway tracks at Shrirampur city in Ahmednagar district on Wednesday.
According to reports, police is probing if Borude?s death was a suicide or an accident.
The former Mumbai Police officer was absconding since Nov 9.
On Nov 19, a local Mumbai court, refused to take up the anticipatory bail plea of the dismissed absconding inspector.
Principal sessions judge ML Tahalayani refused to hear the anticipatory bail petition filed by Borude?s lawyer stating that the police officer was not present in the court.
Borude?s lawyer Vaibhav Bhagade, claiming that his client was being implicated, said Borude had tried to reach the court Nov 19 morning but he could come as he feared that he would be arrested before his bail plea could be heard.
Over 100 policemen were deployed around the court campus since Nov 19 morning.
Asking Borude to present himself in the court, the court also ruled that he would not be arrested till the time his plea is decided.
Borude was on Nov 17 dismissed from service after being accused in rape case of a minor.
Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjiv Dayal, announcing Borude?s dismissal, said he the senior officer was being dismissed on grounds of immoral conduct and added that ?his name figured in the Powai rape case and we have evidence against him?.
There are two cases against Borude ? the rape case and one of trespassing into a flat sealed by a court.
Borude is facing inquiry in a rape case of a 15-year-old girl, who gave birth to a premature child some months back.
