Mumbai : An auto-rickshaw driver, who had set afire a traffic police constable after being fined, was arrested late Wednesday night.
Police said the accused would be produced before a court on Thursday.
The crime took place after traffic constable Anil Aitodekar fined Mahendra Kevat, the auto driver for not following traffic rules in a congested area of Vasai in Thane district.
An enraged Kevat went to the constable hours later and poured kerosene on him before setting him ablaze to the horror of onlookers.
The constable, admitted to a hospital, received about 50 per cent burn injuries.
Kevat has been charged with attempt to murder.
