Janardan Chandurkar is new Mumbai Congress chief

Congress chief Sonia Gandhi Thursday appointed Janardan Chandurkar as the head of the Mumbai Regional Congress Committee and retained Saifuddin Soz as the chief of the party’s Jammu and Kashmir unit.

The post of MRCC chief has been lying vacant for over a year after former president Kripa Shankar Singh resigned over allegations of corruption.

“The Congress president has re-appointed Saifuddin Soz as the president of J&K Congress Committee and appointed Janardan Chandurkar as the MRCC chief,” said a release issued by Congress general secretary Janardan Dwivedi.

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi had interacted with party workers in Mumbai in March and assured them that the vacant post of the MRCC chief will be filled up.
