Maharashtra CM assures Yashwant Sonawane?s family of action
Maharashtra Chief Minister Pritviraj Chavan has assured the family of additional collector Yashwant Sonawane, who was killed by oil mafia last week, that the guilty will be punished.
Chavan visited Sonawane?s house in Nasik on Saturday and offered his condolences to the late officer?s wife Vijaya.
?We have arrested the accused in this case and the investigations are going on,? the chief minister told reporters, after visiting the family.
He said the government will not tolerate such things and will ensure that it is not repeated.
Chavan said the government is considering the demand for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) enquiry into Sonawane?s killing as sought by some quarters.
Sonawane was burnt alive by oil mafia near Manmad in Nashik district on Jan 25.
The prime accused and several others have already been arrested.
