Mumbai airport operational again

Both runways of the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai, are operational now, officials said on Saturday evening.

No planes were allowed to land or take off at the Mumbai airport, the second busiest airport in India, between 11:30 am and 4:30 pm on Saturday due to work on the runways, officials said.

Lights on the runway were realigned since the runways have been widened to make them comfortable for huge planes like the Airbus A380.

Considerable delays are expected after the airport reopened in the evening due to the backlog.

Authorities said they had notified of the changes to airline officials.

The airport will be out of bounds for five hours on Apr 30 as well.
