Mumbai police detained and quizzed two persons, suspected to be involved in Tuesday’s Varanasi blast that killed an 18-month-old girl and left injured 37 people.
The two- a father and his son–were, however, set free after police questioned them.
They were detained in connection with an e-mail sent by the banned Indian Mujahideen to several media houses claiming responsibility for the blast at the Hindu pilgrimage spot.
The mail, traced to a residential complex in Navi Mumabi, claimed responsibility for the blast at a crowded bathing ghat, that led to panic and stampede.
Four foreign tourists were also wounded.
The explosion took place around 6:30 pm at the Sheetla Ghat, where over 5,500 people had gathered to watch the ?Maha Aarti? and offer prayers.
