Raped teen dies in Maharashtra

A 16-year-old girl, who had attempted suicide by setting herself on fire after she was raped several times by her father?s former employer and his accomplices, died in a hospital in Maharashtra on Saturday, media reports said.

Babulal Rasal, the main accused, had apparently not taken it well when the girl?s father, who worked as a farm hand, had managed to pay off his loan and went to look for a new job.

In what the police believes to be an act of vengeance, Rasal and his aides kidnapped the girl and raped her repeatedly for six days moving between three different lodges.

On the seventh day, they dropped her off outside her home. A day later she set herself on fire and suffered over 90 percent burns. Rasal and his aide Narayan Kale were later arrested by the police.
