Police batons on Nagpur cricket fans

Nagpur : After the fiasco in Bangalore, the police used batons on Tuesday morning to disperse the agitated cricket fans, who had assembled to buy tickets at the Vidarbha Cricket Association here.

The tickets counter had to be closed after the police had to use batons several times since morning, media reports said.

Last month the International Cricket Council (ICC) deplored the scarcity of tickets for fans and regretted police lathicharge on people at the M Chinnaswami Stadium in Bangalore on Feb 24.

The police had used batons to the swelling mob after they protested early closure of ticket counters for the India-England World Cup match at the stadium here on Feb 27.
