ATS charge-sheets seven in Germany Bakery blast case

Pune : The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Saturday filed the charge-sheet against seven accused in the German Bakery blast case of February 13 this year, which had left 16 people dead.

The seven accused have been charged with murder and waging war against the country under Indian Penal Code and various sections of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Explosives Substances Act, reports said.

The charge-sheet has been filed in the designated ATS court here.

The accused include Himayat Baig, Mohammed Zarar alias Yaseen Bhatkal and Mohsin Chowdhury.

The charge-sheet reportedly includes details of financial transactions also.

Baig was arrested in September this year from Marathwada region of Maharashtra. He was also reportedly wanted in another case related to the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).

One Hussain Farid alias Bilal was also arrested with Baig, but he is not among the accused named in the charge-sheet, reports claimed.

Baig is suspected to have planted the bomb and was among the mian plotters of the attack, along with Zarar and Mohsin.

The other accused are Riyaz Bhatkal, Iqbal Bhatkal, Fayaz Kagzi and Zabiuddin Ansari.

Except Baig, the six others are absconding and are suspected to have fled the country.
