At least 20 people were taken ill in Pimpri Chichwad area of Pune in Maharashtra on Tuesday following a chlorine gas leak in an effluent treatment plant.
The patients were rushed to the nearby hospitals with cough and eye irritation. The condition of the patients is stated to be stable.
People in nearby locality of the plant were also evacuated as a precautionary measure.
The leakage was, however, rectified fast and the situation brought under control.
Investigations have been started to ascertain the cause of the leakage.
