Assam: Student Ayush Sarmah hospitalized after caning

Guwahati : A class X student was seriously injured and hospitalized after being allegedly caned by the principal of his school in Assam’s Tinsukia district on Tuesday, official sources said.

Ayush Sarmah, class X student of Guru Tegbahadur Academy at Tinsukia town, was allegedly caned by the principal while in the classroom.

The boy, who was beaten all over the body, was rushed to Tinsukia City Hospital.

The parents of the student alleged there was no reason for caning.
