ISI planning more attacks in North East

Guwahati, Aug 31 : Pakistan?s Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) is planning more strikes in India’s North East (NE), with the help of rebel groups of the region, especially in Assam, said a highly-placed source of Assam Police Tuesday.

It was come to light after seven ISI agents were arrested in Tripura on July 3.

During interrogation, arrested ISI agent Manir Khan revealed to Assam Police that ISI is planning more attacks in NE and other parts of India.

Assam and Tripura Police will jointly keep a strict vigil on ISI activities in the region.

According to reports, a five-member team of Assam Police went to Agartala and to take remand of Manir Khan alias Omar Ashraf (30) and his Indian associates for further interrogation in connection to some cases in Assam.

Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Tridib Chandra Roy Bhowmik granted Assam Police a transit remand of Manir and his associates on Monday and directed the police to present before the Kamrup district CJM court within 30 days.

?During interrogation, ISI agent Manir disclosed such vital information on ISI plans in the north eastern region,? a senior police official said.

?Based on Manir’s information, we have already arrested his ISI associate Bikram Das from Guwahati,? the officer added.

The militant outfits of NE are known to be working in close coordination with the ISI, including getting funds from them, arms training, etc.
