P Chidambaram to review law and order situation
Guwahati : The Assam Government has intensified security in the non-Assamese areas of the state following the latest threat by the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) militants as Union Home Minister P Chidambaram arrives here today to review the law and order situation.
After killing 22 people, mainly from the Hindi speaking community on Nov 8, the NDFB issued fresh threats asking the Government to learn its lesson.
“The Government should learn from the incidents, actions, serial blasts,” the NDFB’s latest release said.
“Indians living in Bodo areas should be careful or face horrible consequences,” the outfit warned.
“The statement issued by the NDFB is really threatening”, said state Inspector General of Police Pallav Bhattacharya.
Chidambaram will be on day-long visit to take stock of the law and order situation in the wake of the massacre by NDFB and will also discuss over the proposed dialogue with the Untied Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA).
