Rahul Gandhi urges youths to join politics to help solving various ‘burning’ issues
Guwahati : All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Rahul Gandhi on Thursday urged youths to join politics to help solving various ‘burning’ issues in the country and fight against terrorism.
Interacting with more than a thousand students in Assam Central University in Silchar on Thursday, Gandhi said, ?The country is facing various problems in last couple of years and politics is the ultimate means to solve those burning issues.?
?It is the responsibility for the youth to solve these isuues, such as terrorism, in the country. Without being a part of the political system of the country, none of the problems can be solved,? the Congress leader told the students.
Gandhi called up the youth to take charge of the development of the country.
Meanwhile, local media alleged that only limited students of ‘special’ colleges under the university were allowed to enter Netaji Subhash Chandra auditorium and ask questions to the AICC general secretary.
Gandhi arrived at the Silchar airport by a special flight around 10:30 am and went to the venue by chopper, which landed at the premises of the University.
He later went to Dibrugarh and interacted with the students of the Dibrugarh University.
During his visit in Dibrugarh, the Gandhi scion was shown black flags on roads and university campus from the students of the university and activists of All Assam Students Union, as a mark of protest against Vice Chancellor Kandarpa Kumar Deka?s indifference to their various demands.
Students were protesting outside the Ranghar Auditorium, where Gandhi were busy in interacting with the students.
In Dibrugarh, senior police officials allegedly assaulted few journalists, who came to cover Gandhi’s programme.
Later, Gandhi arrived here and interacted with the students of Indian Institute odf Technology (IIT) Guwahati.
