Six NDFB militants nabbed in Assam

Guwahati : Six hardcore National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) militants, including three women, were nabbed with huge cache of arms and ammunition by police in two separate operations in Assam on Sunday, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Guwahati city police special branch launched a massive operation and arrested five NDFB militants, including the women, and seized huge cache of arms and ammunition from them.

The nabbed militants were identified as, Rupam Basumutary, Amrit Basumutary, Chibila Basumutary, Khongma Basumutary and Mina Jumu.

Police seized three granades, three pistols, four magazines, 99 rounds of live ammunition, six mobile phone sets and explosive from them.

Another militant of the outfit Mukund Swargiary was arrested by police from Medhirtari village near Sarthebari in Barpeta district on Sunday morning.

One pistol and few demand letters were recovered from the militant.
