Two NDFB militants killed in Assam

Tezpur : Two militants of anti-talk faction group of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) were killed in an encounter with security forces in two separate incidents in Assam’s Sonitpur district on Saturday night, police said.

The first incident took place at Misamari Garubasti under Misamari police station in the district along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border, when a group of NDFB militants opened fire on security forces during a search operation by police and army.

”We have got such specific information that a group of NDFB militants took shelter along the border area, and launched operation against the rebels and bullets were exchanged, where a hardcore militant- Jhabed Mushahary- was killed on the spot,” a senior police official said.

Other militants of the group managed to flee from the spot taking advantage of the darkness.

Security forces seized a 9 mm pistol, one granade and five rounds of live ammunition from the slain militant.

In another incident, a militant, identified as Chelvistim Borgayari, was killed in separate encounter with security forces at Laudangi village under Dhekiajuli police station in the district.

However, NDFB denied their cadres were killed.

Top NDFB leader Chadbongsai told local media that, the killing duo were not the cadres of the outfit.
