ULFA leader surrenders in Assam

Guwahati : A hardcore leader of United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) surrendered before the army in Assam?s Sonitpur district on Tuesday, officials said.

ULFA?s medical wing leader Rajib Saikia alias Mike Anthony surrendered before the army?s Eastern Command Counter Intelligence Unit at Tezpur in the district.

He has not deposited any arms or ammunition.

Rajib joined the outfit in 1998 and went to Myanmar in 2002 to receive medical and arms training. He took charge of the outfit?s medical wing in 2004, a defence source said.

?In the last eight years, I had never seen any senior leader of the outfit visit the camps in Myanmar,? Rajib told local media.
