Bhubaneswar : Maoists Friday killed a tribal woman in Odisha’s Nuapada district accusing her of spying on them for the authorities, police said.
The dead body of the woman was found near a market at Sunabeda, about 600 km from state capital Bhubaneswar and was first spotted by local residents, a senior district police officer told IANS.
The rebels left behind a handwritten note at the site accusing the woman of being a police informer, he said.
Maoists have been trying to build up a base in Sunabeda reserve forest and its adjoining areas close to Chhattisgarh. The activities of the rebels in the region were first reported in 2009.
