Orissa MP survives attempt on life
New Delhi : An erstwhile confidante of a powerful Congress MP from Orissa made a futile attempt on his former boss at his residence here on Thursday morning, police said.
Hemanand Biswal, MP from Sundargarh, was unhurt and safe as the pistol malfunctioned during shooting, police said.
The seventy-one-year-old MP was ‘fine’, said police, who have already detained the former personal assistant for questioning.
Biswal was at his 7, K Kamraj Lane residence, when former personal assistant P K Sharma allegedly attempted to open fire at him at around 4 am.
Police said they have been told by the MP that Sharma was behind the attack.
