Tamil Nadu minister, N Mariam Pitchai, dies in accident

Tamil Nadu Minister for Environment and Pollution Control and Minorities Welfare N Mariam Pitchai was killed in an accident at Tiruvelangurichi near Tiruchirappalli on Monday, said police.

Pitchai and state Minister for Sports and Youth welfare NR Sivapathy were travelling to Chennai after garlanding the statue of community leader Perumpidugumutharyar when their car rammed into another vehicle at Tiruvelangurichi.

Pitchia (60) succumbed to his injuries.

A critically-injured Sivapathy was rushed to the hopital.

Pitchai?s has been brought to Madurai.
