12 injured in Uttar Pradesh train derailment

Lucknow : Over a dozen passengers were wounded when the Kasganj-Lucknow Rohilkhand Express jumped the rails in Kanshi Ram Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh on Friday, the railway police said.

The derailment of the engine car and and its adjoning bogie took place at about 5:30 am. when the locomotive was passing through a culvert near Kasganj.

The train was packed with morning communters, who had miraculous escape without major caualties even as the engine car fell into the flood water near the culvert, North Eastern Railway’s DRM, Bareilly, K B Nanda told reporters.

12 people, including the driver of the train, were injured in the mishap.
