New Delhi : State-run gas distributor Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) Saturday hiked compressed natural gas (CNG) prices by 20 paise per kg.
An IGL statement said that the hike was due to an increase in additional VAT by the Uttar Pradesh state government.
“The new consumer price of Rs 43.30 per kg in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad would be effective from 10:00 pm tonight on 8th September 2012,”
Uttar Pradesh has increased additional VAT from 1 to 1.5 percent for items covered in Schedule V, bringing the effective VAT on CNG to 14 percent from the earlier13.5 percent.
The IGL statement added that the increase will have negligible impact on the running cost of vehicles.
IGL supplies fuel for over 550,000 vehicles running on CNG in the National Capital Region (NCR).
