BJYM Kolkata-Kashmir rally starts today

The Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha?s (BJYM) is all set to begin its 11-state-“national integrity march” from Kolkata on Wednesday.

The 15-day march will proceed from Bharatiya Jana Sangh-founder Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee?s birthplace in Kolkata to his martyr place at Srinagar, Kashmir.

BJYM President Anurag Thakur said, ?The Rashtriya Ekta Yatra from Kolkata to Kashmir is aimed at creating harmony and brotherhood among the people and it will be a milestone for the integrity and Unity of the Nation.?

During this period 180 “public awareness meetings” will be organized in 11 states and the national flag will be hoisted at Lal Chowk at Srinagar on Jan 26, the party said in a statement.

The aim of BJYM is to ensure the political and non political participation of youth from all parts of India to give strength and unity for economic development of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladhak region, said Thakur.

In the statement, the Bharatiya Janata Party-youth wing President said that Article 370 is the root cause of the Kashmir problem and a “historical blunder” of the Congress.

Article 370 of the Indian constitution grants special autonomous status to Jammu and Kashmir.

The solution to the Kashmir issue lies in the constitutional framework and not on the religious lines, he said.

He stressed on the need to rehabilitate the Hindu Pandits as the first step towards the solution of the problem.

Thakur added, there is an urgent need to alleviate the mistrust created among the Kashmiris, due to “wrong policies” of Chief Minister Omar Abdulla and the Congress government.
